Driver of your fate

Driver of your own fate

Driver of your own fate

So, you have been diagnosed with diabetes. It’s a shock to be told that you have a chronic condition that will stay with you for the rest of your life – well, until they find a cure, which they haven’t yet (regardless of what charlatans may claim). It is natural to be depressed, angry, or scared, or to feel guilt even. I know because I’ve been through all that. But do not despair. Diabetes, regardless of type, is controllable. Yes, you can control your diabetes.

You, not diabetes, dictate how you live and how you deal with your condition.

You, not diabetes, are the captain, the master, the driver of your health, your life and your future.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
William Ernest Henley
